NEMO: field work

NEMO (Northwest Enhanced Moored Observatory) field work consists of regular deployments and recoveries of the moorings and glider. Though this may seem mudane or humdrum, it is certainly not the case!  Given the unpredictability and challenges of weather on the Washington Coast, the logistics of getting all this gear out there and back in working condition (typically with limited ship time)...and the inevitable engineering challenges, NEMO field work has thus far been anything but ordinary.

Given weather considerations and the availability of ship time, we hope to service the mooring array twice a year in early fall (October) and late spring (April-May).  Given sufficient funding, the glider will be recovered/re-deployed three times a year.
